DMCA & Copyright Policy

Overview

Nation.Tattoo respects intellectual property rights and expects our users to do the same. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (17 U.S.C. § 512), we respond promptly to notices of alleged copyright infringement. If you believe content on our platform infringes your copyright, you may submit a notice under the DMCA.

Who Owns What

Artists and studios retain full ownership of any images, artwork, photographs, or other original content they upload to their profiles. Nation.Tattoo does not claim ownership over user-submitted content. Users who upload content warrant that they have the right to do so.

Nation.Tattoo owns all platform code, branding, logos, original copy, and design elements. These may not be reproduced without written permission.

Submitting a DMCA Takedown Notice

To report alleged copyright infringement, send a written notice to our designated agent containing ALL of the following:

1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or an authorized agent.
2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed. If multiple works are covered by a single notice, provide a representative list.
3. Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing and where it is located on our platform — include the full URL of the page or profile.
4. Your contact information: name, address, telephone number, and email address.
5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
6. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on behalf of the owner.

Counter-Notice Procedure

If content you uploaded was removed in response to a DMCA notice and you believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice. Your counter-notice must include:

1. Your physical or electronic signature.
2. Identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before removal (include the URL if you have it).
3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
4. Your name, address, telephone number, and email address, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or the Northern District of California if your address is outside the United States), and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice.

Upon receipt of a valid counter-notice, we will forward it to the original claimant. If the claimant does not file a court action within 10–14 business days, the removed content may be restored.

Repeat Infringers

Nation.Tattoo will terminate the accounts of users who are found to be repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances. We maintain a policy of removing accounts after multiple valid DMCA notices are received for the same user.

Tattoo Art & Copyright

Tattoo art is protected by copyright law. An artist who creates an original tattoo design owns the copyright to that design. By posting tattoo photos to Nation.Tattoo, both clients and artists agree not to claim ownership over the other party's rights. Artists retain copyright in the design; clients retain the right to photograph their own body.

If you are an artist and someone has reproduced your original design without authorization, please use the takedown procedure above. If you are a client who photographed your own tattoo, please contact us and we will review the situation.
