Convention Season 2026: The Events You Need on Your Calendar
From Long Beach to New York City, the 2026 tattoo convention circuit is stacked. We break down the must-attend events for enthusiasts, collectors, and industry professionals.
Tattoo conventions are unlike any other industry gathering. They're part art fair, part music festival, part carnival, and 100% a celebration of the craft. For collectors, they're a chance to get tattooed by artists you'd otherwise spend years on a waitlist to see. For artists, they're a showcase, a networking event, and a chance to see where the industry is heading.
The 2026 circuit is particularly strong. Here are the can't-miss events.
Ink & Iron Festival, Long Beach CA (July 10-12) — The West Coast's anchor event. Combines tattoo with custom car culture and live music in a way no other convention does. The Queen Mary venue is iconic.
Motor City Tattoo Expo, Detroit MI (August 14-16) — Detroit has quietly built one of the strongest tattoo scenes in the country, and this expo reflects that. Strong traditional American and blackwork representation every year.
Hell City Columbus, Columbus OH (September 4-6) — If you haven't been to Hell City, you haven't done convention season. The competition categories are some of the most prestigious in the country.
NYC Tattoo Convention (September 18-20) — International artists fly in specifically for this one. The breadth of styles on a single floor is unmatched.
Chicago Tattoo Arts Festival (November 6-8) — The biggest single-event in the Midwest. The Best of Show competition consistently produces some of the most-shared tattoo photography of the year.
